Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has donated N50 million to the Super Falcons ahead of their second-leg Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against the Amazons of Benin Republic.
Governor Abiodun announced the gesture when he received the nine-time African champions in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Falcons are returning to the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, where they are expected to seal qualification after defeating Benin 2–0 in the first leg on October 24 in Cotonou.
Abiodun described the team’s presence in Abeokuta as a testament to the state’s renewed commitment to sports development. He disclosed plans to upgrade the stadium and its surroundings with new facilities, including a five-star hotel, cinema, and shopping complex.
While congratulating the team on their recent 10th continental title, the governor praised their leadership, teamwork and discipline, noting that their success continues to inspire young girls and women across the country.
Head Coach Justin Madugu commended the state government for its hospitality and investment in world-class football infrastructure.
Team Captain Rasheedat Ajibade also lauded the governor’s continued support and assured that the Super Falcons would remain committed to making Nigerians proud.
