The MOI/UNICEF Co-Creation and Message Development Team has lauded Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu, General Manager of Pensioners’ FM, as a journalist known for his passion, versatility, and unwavering commitment to professionalism.
The accolades came during a surprise birthday celebration held for Dr. Tiamiyu at the close of a 3-day workshop focused on developing IEC materials and a Community Engagement Guide. The event took place in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
Speaking during the celebration, Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Ministry of Information and Orientation, Mr. Rotimi Babalola, praised Dr. Tiamiyu as a media professional whose insight, creativity, and inspiration distinguished him among his peers.
He further described him as an intrepid broadcast journalist whose numerous awards are a testament to his dedication and integrity.
Adding her voice, Mrs. Aderonke Akinola-Akinwale, Social and Behavior Change Expert from the UNICEF Lagos Field Office, described Dr. Tiamiyu as a journalist with a “medal’s touch” who brings intelligence and purpose to his work, particularly in reporting issues that impact society.
You have been such a consistent and reliable partner, always making yourself and your resources available for the betterment of women and children without reservation,” she said. “We truly appreciate your humility and commitment to humanity.”
Mrs. Akinola-Akinwale also offered prayers for Dr. Tiamiyu’s continued good health and future achievements.
In his response, the highly elated celebrant, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu expressed gratitude to the Oyo MOI, UNICEF, and the entire team for the thoughtful gesture. “I joined this team around 2022 in Oyo, and ever since, it has been a wonderful story of love and progress,” he said, reaffirming his dedication to using journalism as a tool for positive change.
Notable stakeholders present at the event included UNICEF Project Monitoring Officer, Oyo State MOI, Mrs. Adeola Adewole; Controller of Programmes, Radio Nigeria Ibadan, Mr. Moses Morenikeji; public enlightenment expert, Mr. Samuel Olatunji; Mr. Dare Adaramoye of Trailblazer Initiative; and other MOI/UNICEF partners from across the Southwest region.
The celebration concluded with the cutting of a birthday cake and a special prayer led by Mr. Goke Gbadamosi from the Ogun State Ministry of Information and Strategy.
