Tragedy struck in the early hours of Tuesday as a prominent socialite and Chief Executive Officer of Klass Five Hotel, Adesoji Johnson Adeleye, was brutally assassinated at his hotel in the Arakale area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Sources revealed that Adeleye was in one of the hotel rooms when unknown assailants gained entry into the premises. It was reported that he was awake and preparing for the day’s activities when the attackers struck.
The armed men allegedly overpowered him and inflicted multiple stab wounds, leaving him in a pool of blood before fleeing the scene.
A close associate of the deceased, who had spent time with him the previous night, expressed shock at the gruesome killing, describing Adeleye as a longtime friend and a respected figure in the community.
Following the incident, the case was promptly reported to the police. Officers from the Ondo State Police Command arrived at the scene, secured the premises, and moved Adeleye’s remains to the morgue. Sources confirmed that several individuals are currently being questioned in connection with the incident.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Alexander Olayinka, stated that a team of detectives has been dispatched and an investigation is underway.
We are actively pursuing the perpetrators and will ensure they are brought to justice,” Olayinka assured. He added that the case has been transferred to the State Police Headquarters for a thorough investigation.
