Nollywood faith-based film, Agbara Nla: The Return, has recorded more than seventy-one million naira from preview screenings ahead of its official release.
The film reportedly generated about seventy million naira from twelve thousand, one hundred and thirty-four admissions during preview screenings between September 25 and October 1.
According to Nigerian Box Office, the performance represents the biggest single-day preview gross recorded in West Africa.
The platform also reported that the film recorded the highest first-day admissions figure in 2026 and the biggest first-day gross for a Nollywood title during the period under review.
Distributor of the film, Nile Entertainment, also announced that Agbara Nla: The Return had achieved the biggest first-day gross for a Nollywood title and the biggest opening for a faith-based film.
The distributor described the performance as a significant milestone for the production and said the film had now surpassed seventy-one million naira in single-day preview earning.
Agbara Nla: The Return is currently showing in cinemas across Nigeria, 33 years after the original production was released.
The new film is a modern reimagining of the 1993 Christian classic Agbara Nla, later released in English as The Ultimate Power.
The story centres on Muwonleru, a community controlled by a powerful herbalist, Isawuru.
Two Christians, Olaboye and Olatomi, leave their city lives to spread the Christian message in the community, leading to a conflict between their faith and the spiritual influence of Isawuru.
Veteran Christian filmmaker Mike Bamiloye reprises his role as Isawuru, while Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye directed the new production.
Other members of the cast include Aanu Kolade Abiodun, Remilekun Mosiko, Philip Olubakin, Gloria Mike-Bamiloye and David Kola Okeowo.
