2027: Senator Sharafadeen Alli Shows Off Strength, Declares Governorship Ambition

Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District has formally declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship election in 2027.

Alli, a former Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government and former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, is regarded as an experienced administrator and grassroots mobiliser with decades of public service.

At the declaration event, held at Yemetu Police Barracks Playing Ground in Ibadan, which drew a large crowd of political leaders, party faithful, traditional stakeholders, and supporters from across the state, speakers and supporters highlighted Alli’s track record in governance as a major strength, pointing to his experience and vision for sustainable development as key to his ambition.

In his address, the senator pledged to serve rather than rule, while unveiling key programmes and policy directions he intends to pursue if elected.

“I offer myself to you not as a master, but as a servant, tested, prepared, and ready to serve,”

He outlined plans aimed at improving governance and accelerating development across the state.

The event drew prominent chieftains and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Senator Yunus Akintunde, who represents Oyo Central, and members of the House of Representatives such as Akin Alabi, Engr. Aderemi Oseni, Akeem Adeyemi, Olafisoye Akinmoyede, and Tajudeen Abisodun.

Also in attendance were former Deputy Governor Iyiola Oladokun and other notable APC figures, reflecting strong party backing and signalling Alli’s growing influence ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
