Oyo state government says it’s now a Criminal offence for individual or organizations that fails to report the storage of dangerous substance within 72 hours to face wrath of the law pursuant to Section 5(2) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).<\/p>\n

This followed the signing of the executive order 001 on handling and storage of the explosives in the state by Governor Seyi Makinde.<\/p>\n

Speaking with journalists on the development, Governor Seyi Makinde said the order became imperative to prevent the recurrence of the Bodija explosion which occured recently.<\/p>\n

While maintaining that the order for is for the overall security of Oyo state residents said the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security would work with the relevant security agencies particularly the Nigerian Army Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) Ibadan to assess the risk posed by each reported storage of harmful explosives for necessary actions.<\/p>\n

Governor Makinde who later paid a visit to the site of the explosion to further asses the situation of things on ground said the foresic report on the explosion would be ready next week Monday while government would hold an expanded meeting the following day to know the next line of action<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
