Women Empowerment: Aiyedatiwa Unveils O’datiwa Women Initiative

The Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has initated a ten-point agenda for women development in Ondo state with a promise that no one will be left out in the prosperity drive for overall good of the state.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Mrs Seun Osamaye announced this while addressing some women journalists in Akure, the capital city.

Mrs Osamaye said the programmes were not only to empower the women financially but to give them a new lease of life in all areas of human existence.

She reeled out the ten-point agenda to include empowerment of rural and elderly women, Access to resources and support for market women, Skill-up initiative for women, Opportunities and inclusion for women with disabilities, Government intervention for women in agriculture.

Others are TECH-A-Girl & PAD A Girl Child Initiative, Back 2 School Initiative for female adults, Capacity building for women in politics, Mentorship programs for female students and young women in politics as well as Health is Wealth Scheme for women

Mrs Osamaye explained that all women in Ondo state, regardless of their political affiliation would benefit from the programmes adding that all categories of women had been identified and registered in preparation to the take off of the ten-point agenda under the O’datiwa women initiative, an umbrella body for the all women groups supporting the administration of Governor Aiyedatiwa.

She said “the Governor has asked us to lead this initiative by ensuring that government’s plan, policies and dividend of democracy get down to the grassroots. In times past, what they do is to identify a privileged few and bring them to the state capital but the governor said he doesn’t want that, that in his own administration, we should take whatever it is we are doing for our women down to where they are. He wants us to reach out to all women.”

The special Adviser disclosed that as part of efforts to make his administration easily accessible to women, the Governor has opened an office in the heart of Akure for all categories of women to join hands with the government in making the lives of Ondo state women better.

Mrs Osamaye emphasized that Governor Aiyedatiwa prioritizes women’s welfare and development, assuring that no one would be left behind but called on women to participate in politics and support the governor to do more for them.

Speaking on behalf of the technical aids to the special adviser, Mrs. Arinola Adamolekun and Madam Kehinde Adeniran, urged women to support the governor and utilize government services, highlighting improvements in healthcare.

They acknowledged the governor’s efforts towards empowering women in the state.
