Sharing is caring!

The World Health Organization (WHO) has certified Egypt as malaria-free, marking the end of nearly 100 years of efforts to eradicate the disease.

WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus called it a historic achievement and praised Egypt’s dedication.

Egypt is the third country in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, after the UAE and Morocco, to receive this certification.

Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Khaled Ghaffar, stressed the need for ongoing efforts to keep the country malaria-free through strong healthcare and prevention.
