We’re Collating Data for Federal Government to Address Multi Sectoral Challenges – NBS
The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, says it is collating data to address multi-sectoral shortages across Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the country.
The Statistician General of the federation, Prince Adéyemí Adeniran stated this at the 2nd Bi-annual meeting of the national consultative committee on statistics (NCCS) ongoing in Ibadan.
Prince Adéyemí explained that NBS was currently visiting states and federal establishments to access and ascertain the level of needs and shortages in all the sectors to produce a broad statistical data for government to formulate policies and laws that would ease the hardship of the citizenry.
He hinted that NBS was working on data innovation laboratory to facilitate seamless data dissemination and exchange for more accessibility at the sub-national level.
In an address, Governor of Oyo state, engineer Seyi Makinde, represented by the deputy governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, hinged his administration’s success on data, logic and Science.
He noted that through the aid of data, his administration framework, Omituntun 1.0 was able to develop initiatives that tackled the multi sectoral challenges in the state. Adding that Omituntun 2.0 was making advancements in solid minerals and tourism to boost the lively hood of the people.
The two days programme with the theme: “Data Accessibility and Dissemination at Sub-natinal level” has in attendance Statisticians from the states of the federation, representatives of paramilitary agencies, Academics and members of the civil society organisations.
