Tinubu, Political Office Holders Should Cut Thier Salaries to endure Hardship With Masses – Akinfenwa
The Bishop of Ibadan Anglican Diocese, the Most Rev’d Joseph Akinfenwa has tasked the president, his appointees, State Governors, National Assembly Members to cut down their salaries and allowances to match up with the current sacrifices being bore by the masses.
The Bishop made the call while speaking on the state of the nation during the Christmas service held at the Cathedral of Saint James The Great, Oke-Bola, Ibadan.
The Most Rev’d Akinfenwa, who expressed happiness that president Bola Tinubu’s economic policies were beginning to yield positive outcome in the oil sector urged political office holders to review their salaries and allowances so as to be at par with the masses in the process of nation building
The Cleric explained that the citizens had adjusted to the current economic realities while nursing the hope to see a stronger economy, hence, political office holders needed to endure same hardship, to make the anticipated turn around rapid.
The Most Rev’d Akinfenwa, admonished the people to be patient with the president and his team, saying with the steps taken so far, the hardship in the land would fade out soon.
He called for re-introduction of Operation Feed the Nation, OFN, established by former president Olusegun Obasanjo, saying such act would compel every home to practice farming to attain food security.
Prices of food will come down when everyone becomes producer of food through subsistence farming. I encourage every priest under me to practice farming so that they can lay good example for their congregation “
