The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ondo State, Dr. Kayode Ajulo (SAN), has announced plans to establish mobile courts to handle traffic-related offences across the state, in a bid to enforce road discipline and safeguard ongoing infrastructural gains.
Ajulo disclosed this on Friday in Akure, noting that the initiative, to be executed in collaboration with the Chief Judge of the state, would ensure swift adjudication of traffic violations and promote compliance with road safety regulations.
He explained that the proposed mobile courts are designed not as punitive instruments, but as corrective and deterrent mechanisms aimed at instilling order among motorists, commercial riders, and pedestrians.
According to him, “the courts will ensure that every violation is promptly addressed, protecting the gains of development and safeguarding the lives of our people.”
The Attorney General stressed the need for residents to embrace traffic rules, describing discipline as a critical component of sustainable development.
While commending Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for ongoing urban renewal and road infrastructure improvements, particularly in Akure, Ajulo noted that the success of such projects depends largely on the willingness of road users to adhere to established regulations.
He added that the enforcement drive would complement the state’s recent investments in modern traffic systems and road beautification, ensuring that order and safety are maintained on major roads.
The mobile court initiative, he said, forms part of broader efforts by the state government to strengthen the rule of law and improve public safety.
