Scripture Union Nigeria Appoints Engr Cosmas UWEM as New General Director

Scripture Union Nigeria has inaugurated Engr. Cosmas UWEM as its new General Director for a ten year tenure of office. At the official handing over and Inauguration ceremony held at SU Nigeria Headquarters, Samonda Ibadan, the New General Director appealed to governments at all levels to tackle inflation and other challenges confronting the masses. Engr UWEM in his inaugural speech shared the concern of the nation, saying inflation rates , youth unemployment and insecurity required urgent solutions so as to make life meaningful for the citizens. While reiterating the Scripture Union ministry’s commitment to intercede for the nation and its leaders, the new General Director called on governments at all levels to provide lasting solutions in order to reduce social vices in the society. Engr UWEM who joined the Scripture Union Nigeria in 2005 as Assistant Travelling Secretary rose to the position of Regional Coordinator, Lagos region until his Inauguration as General Director, promised to expand the scope of the ministry through strategic collaboration with governments and private organisations, leverage on various media platforms for wider distribution of educational and devotional materials among others. In his valedictory speech, the outgoing General Director, Mr. Phillips Odelana, said the platform gave him the opportunity to address national issues bothering on children, youths and the church. In his admonition, Bishop of Ibadan Anglican Diocese, The Most Reverend Joseph Akinfenwa, represented by Venerable Niyi Woranola charged the new General Director to work for the unity of the body of Christ in Nigeria. In their separate remarks, International Director, Scripture Union, Monika Kuschmierz and The National Chairman, Scripture Union, Nigerian, Dr. Wilfred Onu advised the new General Director to seek the wisdom of God in the implementation of his policies and coordination of staffers of the union.
