Phone Repairer Docked For Stealing Customer’s ATM Card, N186,000

A 24-year-old phone repairer Sunday Lucky, has appeared before an Akure Magistrates’ Court on charges of fraud.

The defendant faces one count of fraud related to the alleged crime.

Prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Omhenimhen, stated that on September 30, 2024, at around 6:30 pm, the defendant committed the offence at Oke Obere, Akure.

He is accused of stealing an Access Bank ATM card and withdrawing N186,000 from the account of Oludemi Akinrotimi, which he allegedly used for personal gain.

The charge violates Sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.Sunday Lucky pleaded not guilty to the charge.

His defense counsel, G.O. Benard, requested that bail be granted on liberal terms.

Magistrate O.T. Lebi granted bail set at N200,000, and the case was adjourned to October 29, 2024, for a ruling on the bail application.

In the meantime, the magistrate ordered the defendant to remain in police custody.
