Oyo NYSC Seeks Gov Makinde’s Assistance to Roof Orientation Hall Before Raining Season
The Oyo State Coordinator of National Youths Service Corps, NYSC Mr. Abel Odoba Oche has appealed to the oyo state governor Engr Seyi Makinde to assist in the roofing of the multi purpose hall under construction at the Permanent orientation camp, Iseyin, Oyo State.
According to the NYSC Coordinator, the multi million Naira project was being sponsored by staffers and some corps employers who voluntarily donated funds to start the erection of the edifice in a bid to enhance smooth running of the orientation course for corps members.
Oche explained that the construction which had reached the roofing stage gulped about twenty-four million Naira (₦24m) adding that a sum of thirty-six million Naira (₦36 million) is required to undertake the iron roofing of the hall before the raining season sets in.
While pleading with the Oyo State government to take up the project, the NYSC boss said the current pavillion being used for training at the orientation camp cannot not provide shade whenever it rains, hence, they send corps members back to the hostel until the rain subsides.
He praised the state government under the leadership of Engr Seyi Makinde for his robust welfare package to Corps members serving in the state, saying the state was adjudged the best among the 36 states of the federation for paying ₦15,000 to corps members and proviso of ₦10million naira as feeding allowance to each bacth during the 21 days orientation programme.
While noting that the NYSC had bridged the personnel gap in some sectors of the economy in the state, Oche stated that medical graduates were posted to rural areas to shore up the shortages in healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
