Oyo Gov’s Wife Disciples Secondary School Students on Proper Hand Washing, Good Hygiene

Maintaining good hygiene through regular and proper hand washing can reduce diseases by 70 percent.

This was made known at a Hand washing advocacy and awareness programme organized by the office of the wife of the governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde with some secondary schools in Ibadan held at Oba Akinbiyi school, Mokola ,Ibadan

Director environmental health services,Oyo state,Mrs Bukola Areo called for conscious efforts at preventing diseases from the society by proper and consistent hand washing .

While charging the students on Hand washing,the wife of the governor ,Mrs Makinde described the act as a very important aspect of maintaining good hygiene and preventing the spread of illnesses in the society thereby emphasising on the need to imbibe the proper way of washing of hands.

Mrs Makinde who emphasised that cleaning of the hands was the first defence from illnesses and diseases,said a society free of disease is an ideal and a perfect society, hence the need to become an advocate of handwashing.

Two of the students, Daniel Daramola and Fatima Saheed, implored other students to prioritize their health, considering other people.

The awareness programme featured practical example of proper hand washing by a retired permanent secretary in the ministry of health,Dr Adeyanju Akande.

Hand sanitizers,liquid hand washing soap and hand towels were presented to the students and their teachers.

Head of service,Mrs Olubunmi Oni, Commissioner for women affairs,Mrs Toyin Balogun and some Principals were in attendance at the programme.
