Nigerians have been warned against being over reliance on the use of artificial intelligence, Ai, so as not to lose out on their natural creative abilities.
Discussants on Focal Point, a weekly discussion programme on Radio Nigeria Ibadan Premier FM 93.5, gave the warning while examining the impact of Ai on human innate ability to carry out tasks.
The guests, drawn from the academic and the information Communication Technology emphasised that the technological advancement was to complement human creativity in carrying out tast within the shortest time frame and not to replace their ingenuous traits.
Speaking, Acting Head, Department of Library, Archival and Information Studies, Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan, Dr. Adeniyi Akangbe, advised users of the new technology, especially students, to engage in deep critical thinking and original problem-solving while using AI for ready-made solutions.
Similarly, an ICT expert, and the Chief Executive Officer of Solagape Networks, Mr Stephen Olusola, allayed the fears that Ai would take peoples jobs and trigger high rate of unemployment.
A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Library, Archival and Information Studies, Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan, Dr. Osarobu Igudia enjoined Ai Users not to allow the enticing features of the new technology lure them into laziness and negativity
