Osun Assembly Directs Teaching Hospital to Digitise Payments

Osun State House of Assembly wants the State Teaching Hospital, Osogbo to embrace Digitalize Payment System to ease the process of payments for Patients undergoing treatment in the hospital.

This was the submission of the Lawmakers, during the Ongoing Budget Defense exercise organized for Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, held at the Assembly Complex, Osogbo.

In seperate contributions , The Majority Leader, Mr. Babajide Kofoworola, Member Representing Obokun State Constituency, Mr. Adeyemi Adewumi and Member Representing Ife Central State Constituency, Mr. Abiola Awoyeye explained that Digital means of payment would reduce corruption and the stress Patient families encounter in settling Hospital Bills.

In a remark, the Speaker , Prince Adewale Egbedun emphasized that the health institutions required a total overhaul in interest of Residents.

Presenting Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Budget, The Chairman Board of the Hospital, Mr. Niyi Owolade who described the Hospital as the major referral center , appealed to the State Government to engage more Medical Staff , to cater for the 320 beded hospital.

Corroborating, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Doctor Adeola Afolabi noted that Qualitative Health Service Delivery, could only be achieved with solid Financial Capital Base, hence the need for Government to come to their aid.

Earlier, The Commissioner for Health, Mr. Jola Akintola who explained that, the Primary Healthcare Centers, PHC across the State have been upgraded to serve the People assured that, plans were on to partner the Federal Ministry of Health for the establishment of a center for Cancer and Kidney Patients in the State.

The Ministry of Health, Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Osun Health Insurance Agency, OHIS, Osun Hospitals’ Management Board , Primary Healthcare Development Board, Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/ AIDS ,OSACA and Osun State Council for Arts and Culture appeared before the House to present thier 2025 Budget Proposal.
