Ogun Flags Off Free Hypertension, Diabetes Screening
The Ogun state government has commenced free screening for hypertension and Diabetes to residents across the state.
The programme, tagged Project 10 million scheduled to take place between Monday, 28th October and Sunday, 3rd November, 2024 across the state under the nationwide, targets ten million nationwide.

The State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker,who made the appeal while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta said about 350 thousand residents, from 18 years and above were expected to be screened through the week long intervention across the 20 local government areas and 236 wards of Ogun state.
Doctor Coker explained that the Project 10 million, Know your number, Control your health Campaign, spearheaded by the Nigerian Health Commissioners Forum was endorsed by the Nigerian Governor’s Forum with a view to combating the increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases, particularly Hypertension and Diabetes across the nation.
She advised the people to visit public Health Facilities , including Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Health Institutions as well as other designated centers in Churches, Mosques, Markets, Schools and motor parks in the nooks and crannies of the state.
The Commissioner for Health maintained that the screening would afford residents the opportunity of getting free counselling as well as ensure the linking of newly detected cases to treatment facilities for further care.
She emphasized that the screening would also complement the ongoing efforts of the state government in promoting preventative care towards safeguarding the lives of residents.
