NAFDAC Shuts Unregistered Juice, Beverages Company in Ibadan
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has closed a juice manufacturing company in Ibadan for operating without the agency’s registration number.
The NAFDAC South-West Director, Rosline Ajayi, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Ibadan.
Ajayi said the agency got wind of the company’s operations through collaboration with its Osun office.
According to her, “We collaborate a lot; our state office in Osun sent an information via WhatsApp clip of the company’s products that was discovered in a hamper without NAFDAC registration number.
“Our state office sent me the clip to verify because it has Ibadan address and I checked whether the company has a file with NAFDAC and truly it has.
However, while going through the file, I discovered that the company actually applied for registration, but no indication that inspection was done or NAFDAC number given.”
Ajayi said that an application and payment were not the same as registration, adding that a lot of procedures were involved in registering a product.
She further said that the agency’s inspection officers were deployed to locate the company’s address and on getting there, they discovered that it was into the production of juice without NAFDAC number
