JUST IN: Ogun Assembly Reinstates NURTW
Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution, lifting the ban on the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in the State.
The Speaker of the House, Mr Olakunle Oluomo announced this at a plenary held at the Assembly complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
The motion to lift suspension on the Union, was raised by the Chairman, House Committee on Transportation, Mr Oludaisi Elemide and moved by the majority leader, Mr Sheriff Yusuf while it was seconded by the Minority leader, Mr Lukman Adeleye.
The duo of Mr Oyedele Adebisi and Mr Seun Adesanya who affirmed that peace had returned to the sector also expressed the hope that lifting the ban on the activities of the union would help to increase the State’s Internally Generated Revenue of the State
The House of Assembly also passed a resolution requesting the release of the member, representing Sagamu 1 State Constituency, Mr Muhammed Bello from the custody of the Department of State Security Service, DSS, pending the conclusion of investigation on the charges leveled against him.
The plenary also featured the reading of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s correspondence on the nomination of Mrs Funmi Efuwape, Mr Tunji Odunlami and Mr Wasiu Isiaka as Commissioners.
The House later directed the three commissioner nominees are to appear for screening on Monday, 9th October, 2023.
