JDPC Saved Me from Being Sold for $1000 in Lebanon – Trafficked Lady
Peace Busari, is one of the lucky Nigerians who survived the menace of human trafficking and got full ressettlement following the intervention of the Justice Development and Peace Commission, JDPC, Ibadan.
Narrating her experience at the fundraising Dinner with the Archbishop, held at the Jtravers hall of St Patrick Catholic church Bashorun, Peace explained that she sold all her belongings to fund her travel to Lebanon in her bid to search for greener pasture.
According to her, she was wooed with juicy job packages by the agent hence her decision to embark on the adventure so as to fend for herself and family.
When I wanted to travel to Lebanon, the agent told me i was going there to work not knowing I was being sold into slavery. My expectation was dashed when I got there, my agent in Lebanon placed me on sale for $1000. It was a great period of torment for me, no food, nothing to survive on.”

Her testimony was not the only intervention done by the JDPC, Odunayo Comfort’s case was a success story in the JDPC beneficiaries Highlights.
Comfort, a fashion designer was said to be well established in Lagos with four apprentices but left the venture and took up a trip to Libya, she returned to Ibarapa with psychosocial problem.
She was rehabilitated by the JDPC team after which she was empowered with sewing machines and other tools of her trade for a complete bounce back.
