In an interview with journalists, OSPAA President Alhaji Yakub Adebayo appreciated members of the association both at home and diaspora for re-electing him to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years.
He commended the Alumni for their support in his first tenure which he attributed to the quantum achievements recorded , including globalisation of the association, easy collection of Certificates and Transcripts, building of Alumni court for members to relax while processing their applications in the school campus and facilitation of employments and distribution of robust welfare packages to members.
My antecedents and my style of leadership was my selling point. Everybody knows that I’m a selfless person so I don’t joke with integrity, and they know that I don’t condone nonsense even though I’m a simple person.”
“My administration in the last two years, accountability is there. I achieve all my manifestos, all my promises were kept and fulfilled so I thank God for that. So those were the things that people saw in me and re-elected me for the second time and the massively voted for me.
The first time, in my last manifesto I promised to unite the association, which I did before, few Alumni were coming to partake in the affairs of the association but now, I’ve globalised it, so I promised the digitalisation, I’ve done it. So many people thought it’ll not be possible, but I thank God because we are doing the online, voting for the first time, people thought it would not be possible, but thank God. It was very easy and peaceful election.
Adebayo, an accountant, promised to consolidate on his initiatives with the target to broaden the globalisation agenda as well as the establishment of endowment fund to facilitate more projects in the Alma mater
I want to consolidate the globalisation agenda because the major aim of Alumni Association is to give back to the institution so we have not done enough. I want to make sure that members in the diaspora and people from far and and well to do , people that have been neglected before we want to bring them back on board so that the school can benefit from their wealth and resources.”
