Sharing is caring!

The Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ), Oyo State Chapter, has called for unity, prayer, and patriotism amongst Nigerians as the nation commemorates its 64th Independence Day.

The NACJ urged all members and Nigerians to come together in prayer for the country and the state, asking for divine guidance and wisdom for leaders at all levels.

A statement issued on behalf of the association’s Chairman, Com. ‘Lekan Shobo Sobowale, by the Public Relations Officer, Com. Adeola Badru, reflected on the significance of Independence Day as a time to honour the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers and to acknowledge the ongoing journey toward a more unified and prosperous nation.

The association emphasised the importance of this day as an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and commitment to the ideals of freedom and justice.

Today, we celebrate not only our independence but also our resilience as a nation. As Christians, we are called to be instruments of peace and hope, using our voices to advocate truth, justice, and the common good.”

NACJ highlights the pressing need for unity in overcoming the challenges facing Nigeria, including economic difficulties, insecurity, and social discord.

We believe that through collective prayer and dedication, we can foster a spirit of patriotism that transcends our differences. Let us commit ourselves to building a Nigeria where every citizen can thrive in peace and prosperity.”

The association called upon its members to continue promoting ethical journalism that uplifts the nation’s narrative and encourages civic responsibility.

The association reiterated the role of journalists as advocates for the truth and as essential contributors to nation-building.

NACJ, Oyo State Chapter, however, reaffirmed its dedication to fostering a positive outlook for Nigeria, celebrating its diversity, and working towards a future characterised by peace, justice, and national pride.
