Sharing is caring!

The Islamic High School Old Students Association has expressed sympathy over the loss of lives occasioned by stampede at a children’s funfair organised by WINGS Foundation.

A statement from the National President of the Association, Dr. Bayo Busari described the incident as a national tragedy coming at a time when Christians were looking forward to a yuletide celebration.

While stating that nothing could compensate for the lives lost, Busari urged the police to carry out a diligent, thorough, and professional investigation to unravel what led to the stampede.

“This investigation is not just to establish the culpability of individuals or organisations involved with the organisation of the event, but to proffer preventive measures against a future occurrence.

The statement commended the efforts of the state government for rising to the occasion in bringing the incident under control.

Busari, however, admonished that the police should ensure that those who had no direct bearing with the event but have been invited for questioning do not stay longer in detention than it is necessary.
