House of Reps Seeks N500 million Recapitalisation of DISCOs
The House of Representatives has called for a recapitalisation programme of no less than N500 million for all Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) in Nigeria to ensure their continued operation.
This resolution followed a motion presented by Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka (APC-Ogun) during Wednesday’s plenary session in Abuja.
Hon. Isiaka highlighted that the operations of DISCOs are increasingly becoming a threat to Nigeria’s economic stability and the welfare of its citizens. 
He also criticized the practice of forcing consumers to pay for meters they had already financed, describing it as an additional financial burden on households and businesses already grappling with economic challenges.
The House urged the relevant authorities to implement the recapitalisation programme and address issues plaguing the power sector.
