Hit-And-Run Driver Kills FUNAAB Professor in Abeokuta
Tragedy struck in Abeokuta community as a hit-and-run driver knocked down a Professor of Biochemical Toxicology with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, Oladipo Ademuyiwa while attempting to cross the road in his neighbourhood.
The Don, according to a eyewitness, was said to have been knocked down around Professor Wole Soyinka’s axis of the newly rehabilitated Kemta-Somorin road by a reckless driver who escaped from the scene.
The Chairman, Ajebo Road Housing Estate Community Development Association CDA, Dr Ayo Ajasa who told journalists in Abeokuta that the incident happened on Sunday 15th February 2025 said the tragic loss of the university lecturer would have been avoided if the state government had heeded the community’s plea to install speed breakers on the road.
Dr Ajasa described the death of the professor as a huge loss to the community and the nation given his invaluable contributions to knowledge sharing in one of the country’s universities.
He maintained that the unfortunate incident had thrown the community into mourning, calling for urgent intervention to prevent further tragedies on the road.
