Government Pays 2024 WAEC Fees for 16,269 Students
Ekiti State Government says it has paid five hundred and forty six million naira as 2024 West African Examination Council, WAEC fees for students in public schools.
The State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Bimpe Aderiye who made this known in.a statement in Ado Ekiti, said the money also captured administrative expenses.
The commissioner explained that sixteen thousand, two hundred and sixty nine (16,269) SS3 students in public secondary schools in the State registered for the examination.
Dr Aderiye warned that it would be an act of sabotage for officials of the public schools in the State to demand for any fee in respect of the examination.
She also cautioned parents and guardians against paying unauthorized fees, noting that such acts undermine Government’s free education policy.
Dr Aderiye advised all stakeholders to report any demand for the 2024 WAEC unauthorized fees to her office or those of the Permanent Secretaries of Education or Teaching Service Commission.
Reiterating the commitment of the State Government to improving the education sector, Dr Aderiye assured that no stone would be left unturned towards achieving the desired goal.
