FUNAAB Graduates 122 First Class
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, says one hundred and twenty-two graduand will bag the award of first class honour at its 31st convocation ceremony.
The vice chancellor of the institution Professor Olusola Kehinde made the announcement while speaking to journalists in Abeokuta, on the plans for the the 31st Convocation Ceremony of the institution scheduled to take place between Friday 26th and Saturday 27th January, 2024.
Professor Kehinde noted that out of the 3, 574 graduands, 1, 540 would graduate with Second Class Upper division, while 1,705 would bag Second Class Lower division and 187 with third Class.
Reeling out some of the achievements recorded by FUNAAB in the last one year, the Vice Chancellor said the institution was recently ranked as the best University of Agriculture in Africa and 7th in the World by the Times Higher Education 2024 World University Rankings.
Professor Kehinde listed the areas of focus in the public – private partnerships to include large scale production of livestock, pawpaw and water melon as well as dairy products and cassava with over 10,000 hectares of land to be opened up by the University.
He canvassed public-private partnership to enhance commercial Agriculture and tackle identified threats to food security in the country.
The Vice Chancellor solicited the support of stakeholders to enable the Institution to overcome the challenges of mechanized farming, such as the paucity of funds and theft of farm produce as well as inadequate manpower and necessary equipment.
