The Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, has announced plans to incorporate robotic and laser technology into its medical operations to improve healthcare service delivery to the people.
Medical Director of the Centre, Professor Adewale Musa-Olomu disclosed this to journalists while presenting the score card for his eight years tenure in office.
Professor Musa-Olomu described the proposed innovations as part of the Centre’s commitment to leveraging modern technology in line with global medical standards towards advancing patient care.
The Medical Director applauded President Bola Tinubu for the massive investment in the health sector, highlighting its positive impact on healthcare infrastructure, service delivery, and access to quality medical care across the country.
Professor Musa-Olomu while speaking on the shortage of doctors in the country’s health facilities said it was necessary for the government at all levels to implement commensurate remuneration packages to retain skilled medical professionals and prevent them from seeking better opportunities abroad.
Reeling out some of his achievements, the Medical director who would be expected to bow out of office on the 31st of this month said the medical facility had excelled in many areas, emphasizing that the hospital was responsible for more than 40 per cent of Open Heart Surgeries performed in Nigeria.
