Ekiti State Government says it will continue to implement policies that will safeguard children against molestations to guarantee a brighter future to unlock their potentials
Governor Biodun Oyebanji stated this at this year’s “Children’s Day” celebration, held at the Ekiti parapo Pavilion, in Ado Ekiti, the State Capital, with the theme: “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation”.
The celebration featured match past, cultural dance, debate and brief lecture on effect of bullying children
The Command Secondary School Isan Ekiti, emerged first, Mary Immaculate Grammar School came second, Harden Model College, Ado clinched the third position, while the best students in debate went home with cash gift.
In his address, the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji said that every policy in education would be geared towards offering freedom and conducive academic environment to ensure that pupils in both primary and secondary schools grow without any form of molestation.
Represented by the Deputy Governor Chief Monisade Afuye, Governor Oyebanji pointed out that children groomed in an environment that is full of love, empathy and collective growth, would not be aggressive in nature.
While appreciating teachers, caregivers, and parents for playing pivotal roles in shaping the future of the children, Chief Afuye prayed that their efforts would not be in vain.
In a remark, the Olori, Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Bosede Adejugbe implored parents to always build a society that promote empathy and collective growth.
Also, the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Adebimpe Aderiye and Chairman, Ado Ekiti Local Government, Chief Bosun Osaloni called on teachers to nurture pupils in a way that would have positive effects on their future and charged parents to create environment where their children could interact and express their feelings to guard against molestation.
The Representative of Speaker, Ekiti State Children Parliament, Miss Nancy Daramola urged children to always speak up whenever they notice any act of oppression and called for zore tolerance towards building Ekiti.
