Between The Influential And The Influencer – By Anike OlaniyiBetween The Influential And The Influencer – By Anike Olaniyi

In a world that feeds off attention, spotting the difference is tough. Being influential and being an influencer may look identical, but they are polar opposites. While one is the sibling with the networth, the other is one with a ring light.

An influential person moves people even when they are not in the room.

An influencer moves people only when the Wi-Fi is strong.

The influential don’t announce themselves. They don’t say, “Guys, listen to me.”

People just quietly adjust their lives because of something they said or did.

Influence is earned. Influencing is negotiated with brands, discount codes, and a deadline.

The influential can wear the same shirt for 10 years and still command respect.

The influencer can not repeat outfits because the algorithm will be offended.

The influential person shapes values, character, and direction.

The influential may never go viral, yet their impact lasts decades, even a lifetime.

The influencer may trend by noon and be forgotten by next week, when another challenge drops.

Influential people build legacies…Influencers build engagement.

One leaves footprints on hearts and history. The other leaves hashtags and sponsored posts

Both have power, but one changes lives, while the other mostly changes brand awareness.

In short:

Being influential is depth.

Being an influencer is reach.

And while reach can get attention, depth is what actually moves the world.
