The Archbishop of the Ibadan Archdiocese, Most Reverend Gabriel Abegunrin, has called on Nigerians, particularly Christians, to live by the virtues of Christ, emphasizing humility, forgiveness, and a commitment to peace.

Speaking at the Divine Mercy Sunday celebration held at the Divine Mercy Center, Archbishop Abegunrin stressed the need for Christians to shun anger and unforgiveness, following the example of Jesus Christ, who, despite facing persecution, prayed for his enemies and lived a life of humility and peace.

Quoting from the Gospel of John 20:19-31 during his sermon, the Archbishop urged the faithful to deepen their trust in God, highlighting that unwavering faith empowers Christians to accomplish great things not just within the church, but also in their workplaces and communities.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of meritorious awards of excellence to distinguished individuals and societies for their outstanding service to God and humanity. The Parish Priest, Reverend Father Joachim Akee, introduced the awardees, noting that their dedication had significantly contributed to the growth of the body of Christ.

Prominent among the awardees were Chief Anthony Oladepo Olarinde, Sir Peter Olarinde, Very Reverend Father Sangokeye, Reverend Father Francis Adekunle Adedigba, Mrs. Muyi, Chief Emmanuel Olayemi, Mrs. Ologundudu, and Monsignor Theophilus Adigun Fadeyi.
