Adeleke Splashes N40million on UNIOSUN Patients, Staff
The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has donated a sum of forty million naira to the entire Staff and patients of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
He also directed immediate installation of solar lights to the facility so as to illuminate the entire hospital.
The Governor who was warmly welcomed into the hospital by the workers who danced to appreciate the Governor for his magnanimity in renovating the hospital, explained that twenty million naira is for the staff, while another twenty million naira is meant for the patients on admission at the hospital.
Governor Adeleke also directed the Chief Medical Director, CMD, of the hospital, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi to discuss with the Commissioner for Health, Mr. Jola Akintola to compile their requests list , promising speedy approval.
He also promised to employ more staff so as to ensure prompt delivery of healthcare service and ease workload on the staff.
In his address of welcome, the Board Chairman of Uniosun Teaching Hospital, Dr. Niyi Owolade said he believed good things are still coming to the hospital in the second half of the present administration.
Dr. Owolade noted that UNIOSUN teaching hospital is the only referral hospital for government primary health centers and private hospitals in the State, emphasising that it has best Doctors, Nurses and supporting staff who are dedicated to their duties.
He appreciated the Governor for giving prompt renovation of the hospital and for the enrollment of pensioners into free health insurance Scheme.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Mr. Kasope Abolarin stated that the visit was remarkable in the history of the state, urging staff of the teaching hospital to continue to supporting the present administration under the leadership of Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Also speaking, the Chief Medical Director of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi who appreciated the Governor’s visit, appealed to the Governor to employ more Nurses to reduce the burden on the nurses, just as he solicited for more support from the Governor.
Dr. Afolabi, however decried lack of subvention for the hospital since 2012, leaving the hospital to rely solely on internally generated revenue; outdated medical equipment which according to him is affecting diagnostics, teaching, and clinical services.
He highlighted some of the achievements of the hospital to include renovation and painting of some buildings, timely payment of allowances, regular payments of salaries, registration of retired aged into OHIS, part payment of bills owe IBEDC.
