Ibadan Tennis Club Celebrates 100 Years
Ibadan Tennis Club has kicked off its centennial celebrations, marking 100 years of its existence.
The club’s president, Dr. Oladipupo Sule, who highlighted the club’s achievements and contributions to the community during a press briefing in Ibadan, reeled out series of events scheduled to mark the milestone which included a Centennial Endowment Luncheon, sporting events, charity activities, and a Centennial Dinner.
“The dinner will feature the investiture of Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, as the Grand Patron of the club.”
Sule noted that the club would also commission several projects, including the rehabilitation of its main hall, parking space, and squash hall, as well as the construction of a new Badminton Hall.
ITC has a rich history, producing state and national champions in various sports, including tennis, billiards, and badminton. The club is committed to continuing its legacy of promoting sports, recreation, and socialization.
In a remark, Maye Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi, congratulated ITC on its 100-year celebration, describing it as one of the best social clubs in Ibadan and Oyo State.
He urged the club to sustain its excellence in good deeds.
Awards of recognition were given to five individuals, including Chief Lekan Alabi and the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council, Chief Ademola Babalola.
