Oyo Football Association Holds Draw for 2025 President Federation Cup
The Oyo State Football Association has held draws for the year 2025 President federation cup.
The 2025 edition would feature seven football clubs which registered for the competition.
The teams include: Ilaji Football Club, Ibadan; Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Ibadan; Crown Football Club, Ogbomoso; and Adeyemi Football Club, Ibadan.
Others include: Oyomesi Football Club, Oyo; Oye Olohun Football Club, Saki and Zion-Liberty Football Club, Ibadan.
Speaking on the rules of the competition, the Chairman, Oyo State Football Association, who is also a traditional ruler, the Alakinyele of Akinyele, Oba James Odediran, noted that all matches would be played on knockout basis.
He added that venue of the matches shall be determined on neutrality basis to give room for fair play.
“In the event of a draw at the end of regulation time, the winner shall be decided through penalty kicks.
“Lateness of club to the match venue 15 minutes after the kick-off time shall lead to walk-over and the match awarded to the other team,”he said.
The chairman reiterated the commitment of Oyo FA to ensure fair officiating throughout the competition.
He urged the players and club management to strictly follow rules and regulations of the competition as appropriate sanctions await defaulters.
NAN also reports that the defending champion, Ilaji FC was given the privilege of being the first semi-finalist, while 3SC, Crown FC and Adeyemi FC were placed on quarter final pairings.
The 3SC would lock horn with Oye-Olohun FC of Saki in the first match of the competition, while Zion Liberty FC is to file out against Crown FC of Ogbomoso in the second match.
Oyomesi FC is scheduled to throw tackles with Adeyemi FC in the third encounter of the competition.
At the semi-final stages, Ilaji FC would face winner of first match of the competition, while winner of match number two would play against winner of match number three as match number five and six respectively.
The third place would be played between the looser of match number four and looser of match number five, while the final match would feature winner of match number four and winner of match number five.
It would be recalled that Ilaji FC secured the hard-fought victory by defeating 3SC 5-4 in a penalty shootout to record an historic victory at the 2024 edition of the competition.
The tournament began in 1945 as the Challenge Cup and later renamed the Federation Cup, then “The President Federation Cup”.
