Super Eagles Player, Ademola Lookman Wins 2024 African Player of The Year
Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman has been named the 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Men’s Player of the Year.
The 27-year-old received the prestigious honor at a gala event in Marrakesh, Morocco, on Monday evening.
Lookman, who plays for Nigeria’s national team, beat out competition from Achraf Hakmi, Ronwen Wiliams, Serhou Guirassy and Simon Adingra.
This is the first time Lookman will be winning the award in his career and also becomes the sixth player to win the prestigious accolade after Nwankwo Kanu, Emmanuel Amunike, Victor Ikpeba, Victor Osimhen and Rashidi Yekini in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Player of the Year award went to Zambia and Orlando Pride star Barbra Banda.
Also, Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie goes home with Goalkeeper of the Year (Women) for the second time in a row. The Nigeria’s National Team recieved the Team of the Year (Women) award.
