Imprisoned Rep Member, Farouk Lawan Completes Jail Term

A former member of the House of Representatives, Farouk Lawan, has been released after completing his five-year prison sentence for bribery.

Lawan was convicted in 2021 for accepting a $500,000 bribe from Femi Otedola, then chairman of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Limited, during a sting operation.

At the time of the incident in 2012, Lawan was the Chairman House ad hoc committee investigating the multi-billion naira petrol subsidy fraud.
