FG Education Policy Unfriendly to Private Universities – Bishop Adelakun
Chancellor, Dominion University, Ibadan, Bishop Taiwo Adelakun has called on the federal government to review its education policy to enable private universities to thrive.
Bishop Adelakun explained that private universities operating in the country were established to compliment the deficit in the sector, hence the need to give them enabling environment to effectively play their role in the grooming of graduates to advance the nation’s development
Speaking at a press conference organised to kick off the activities of the second Convocation of the faith based university, Bishop Adelakun, highlighted sixteen years admission age limit, non inclusion as beneficiaries of government intervention schemes such as Tetfund and NELFUND as undeserving.
Bishop Adelakun disclosed that 80% of the graduands enjoyed scholarship in the institution, announcing automatic employment for students who graduate with first class honour.
The Vice Chancellor, Dominion University Ibadan, Professor Abel Olorunnisola announced that thirty-five out of the one hundred and forty eight graduands, graduated with first class, while seventy-one graduated with second class upper division.
Reeling out the convocation activities, Dr Olorunsola noted that the convocation lecture would be delivered by Dr. Makanjuola Ojewunmi, the Managing Partner, Makanjuola Ojewunmi &co on Friday while the conferement of first degree would hold on Saturday.
