Don’t Blame Aduke Gold, Nigeria’s Healthcare is Poor – Taiwo Omotunde
Oyo state Governor of Performing Musician Association of Nigeria, PMAN, Taiwo Omotunde, has cautioned the people not to cast blame on the decision taken by the late fast rising gospel singer Aduke Morounkola Ajayi popularly known as Aduke Gold which eventually led to her death
The 36 years old Nitori Ogo crooner died on 13th August, 2024 and buried in Lagos on 23rd August, 2024.
Revelations after her demise indicated that the late gospel singer relied more on her spiritual fathers advice than seeking Medical care while her sickness lasted
Reacting, Omotunde, who exposes the shortcomings in the health institutions said the nation’s poor healthcare system was instrumental to her death.
The Oyo PMAN Governor, who alluded to the fact that musicians were unrestrained in their engagements and hardly have time for medical checks, opined that Aduke gold might have died of stress.
Aduke Gold was a budding star, she died at her prime, she could have been a victim of stress. I read she died of cervical cancer, our women should not take the test for cervical cancer with levity.
“I did not know what caused the death except from what we read in papers and we’ve not seen the post mortem, so it’s not public, but whatever it is , I know that musician live dangerously by not exercising restraints in engagements because of the economy of this country”
Omotunde, a renowned musician and Chief Executive Officer, Eternal Beats Entertainment, explained that the shortage of personnel in the healthcare system, slow response to health emergency and exhorbitant cost of check up and treatment in the hospital scare many sick persons away from seeking medical care, thereby making them to seek spiritual healing at the churches
Anybody who’s sick is supposed to go to the hospital first but the clinical procedure is expensive and that scare people away and left with option of seeking spiritual care.
“Spiritual can’t be blamed for anything, they’re pastors who control large congregation and people including musicians listen to them, so they take responsibility of guiding people”.
He stressed that musicians needed special medical attention in view of their role in the society, calling for prompt and reduced healthcare for them
Musical stars need special medical attention, if they cannot afford a private doctor, they need someone they can call at anytime who’ll respond for quick access to medical services.
Omotunde, emphasised that complications from operation and surgical procedures, complications could be linked to anaesthesia, blood transfusion, and even shock enjoined physicians to guide against negligence while in the theatre.
While calling on Pastors not to shield their followers from seeking medical advice and treatment, he called on government to upgrade the healthcare facilities to meet up with modern day practices of rapid response to emergency with affordable rate.
The healthcare system in this country is not good. If medical care is easily accessible, believe me, many people will not die. But if you have to go the hospital for check up and spend all your money, people will prefer to stay at home spend the money on Food, eat and die.
In emergency cases, ordinary ambulance is not available if you go to the uch you’ll see about 100 patients to a doctor, the doct is human, he’s tired and fatigued that can affect his prescription and his assessment of your health case.”
