Lone Accident Claims 12 in Ogere
Twelve passengers have been burnt to death in a road accident that occurred along Malo Ogere, Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The lone crash, which happened at about 3:14 pm, on Tuesday involved a white Mazda bus with registration number DDA733XA.
The Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps Ogun State Florence Okpe in a statement made available to newsmen, said the rescue operation was carried out by a team from FRSC Ogere Unit Command.
Okpe noted that the crash involved 16 persons which comprised 12 male adults, three female adults, and one female child.
Okpe ascribed the cause to wrongful overtaking by the bus driver, which led to loss of control and the bus hitting the road divider.
She added that the vehicle fell and was immediately engulfed in flames adding that passengers who sustained injuries had been taken to a private hospital in Ogere.
