Sanwo-olu’s Aide Hinges Effective Health Care on Innovative Technology

Innovative technology will continue to play a vital role in shaping the future of health care system in the country.

Key note speaker, Special Adviser to Lagos State governor on Health , Dr Kemi Ogunyemi made the assertion at the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society Second Annual Scientific Conference and Award Ceremony held at Trenchard hall, university of Ibadan.

The event with the theme Advancing Health Care Frontiers Embracing Technology For Innovative And Transformative Nursing Education Practice,Dr Ogunyemi explained that technology would enhance patient care, education and seemless access to sharing of patients information among healthcate provider.

She advised that the introduction of technology in nursing education should be embraced to improve students learning, improve stimulation training and foster virtual collaboration.

Dr Oguyemi advised nurses to continue to be the driven force behind innovation in the Healthcare pointed out that technology is just a tool but empathy and sympathy truly make a difference in the profession.

In a remark, Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly Mr Adebo Ogundoyin represented by the Deputy Speaker, Mohammed Fadeyi Affirmed the Vital role technology play in transforming Nursing Education, said that Oyo State government have initiated programs to upgrade health care facilities and equip health care professionals with necessary skills to effectively utilize technology.

Also in a remark the Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwasherimi Ajetunmobi, who commended the Organisers for their commitment in advancing Nursing Education and practice World Wide, said Governor Seyi Makinde had approved the recruitment of More Health Workers to fill the existing vacancy that resulted from Japa Syndrome.

In an address of welcome, the President Alpha Alpha Upsilon Chapter, Professor Prisca Adejumo who is also the Deen of Faculty of Nursing, college of Medicine University of Ibadan, said the aim of the Conference was to Celebrate the remarkable achievements and dedication of members who had continued to push the boundaries of nursing knowledge and practice.

Professor Adejumo noted that Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing offers invaluable opportunities for nurses to share cutting edge, Research, give room for professional development, career scholarship and opportunities to meet with international partners.

The event featured presentation of Awards to some well deserved distinguished personnels in the Health Sector including the Oyo State Commissioner for Health and the Induction of forty six members into the Association.
