We’re Jinx Breakers! Spaco ’89 Set Boasts of 35 Years of Togetherness

Celebration and Glamour as members of St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Ibadan Old Boy’s Association 89 set, gathered in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital to mark their thirty-fifth year of graduation from secondary school.

They were full of excitement that the set had surpassed the poser of “twenty children cannot play for twenty years” as they had successfully stayed in touch for three and half decades.

At the ceremony which was the third annual reunion, the patricians as popularly called reflected on their journey to accomplishments which began from thier Alma Mater while families of deceased members; Messrs Kayode Oloyede and Segun Adediji were also mobilised to the venue for a nice time as they savour the sumptuous meals and wine served.

President, St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Ibadan Old Boy’s Association 89 set, Rev’d ‘Niyi Dahunsi, in his address, appreciated God and hailed the commitment of members towards attaining a union which had enabled the set whose number is greater than twenty to play together for over thirty years. We have broken the jinx, we’ve succeeded in playing together for over twenty years, and we are more than twenty in number. The essence of our gathering is to impact on one another and give back to their Alma mater.”

Rev’d Dahunsi who hinted that 40 set of tables and chairs were donated to their Alma mater this year, enjoined members to help one another with expertise, influence and connections so as to solidify their association.

Delivering a lecture on Life After 50, Mr Debo Oderinde enjoined members to pay more attention to their health, eat balanced diet and stay connected so as to share personal challenges with one another

Mr Oderinde encouraged them to embrace life long learning, use social media positively and leverage on its financial gains.

Inflation is a global thing, stay positive and resilient, build a support network through active participation in church, cooperative and cluster association. Learn technology this is the era of Artificial Intelligence, don’t be left out, there so many things to learn on-line and they’re free.”

US based physician, Dr. Oluwatoyin Fajinmi, in a lecture on “Health is Wealth” advised them to go for regular check up for early diagnosis and treatment of any ailment lurking in their body

If you’re over 50 as a man, there are certain tests you need to do every year, make sure you check your liver and kidney functions, check your A1c to ensure you’re not diabetic, most especially, make sure you check your prostate.”

Women should also do same exam as men, visit your doctor every year, do mammogram for breast cancer and cervical check. young adults who are not sexually active should take HPV vaccine.”

Dr. Fajinmi, a Clinical Coordinator at Department of Veterans Affairs, in Pennsylvania, United States, enjoined them to also check their mental assessment for better management of depression and anxiety.
