IGP Approves Three Additional Commands in Ogun
The Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun has approved the establishment of 3 additional area commands in Ogun State to strengthen security apparatus across the state.
Mr Egbetokun who announced this during a stakeholders meeting at the Eleweran headquarters of the Ogun State Police command, said the formations would be established at Ifo, and two border communities
Mr Kayode Egbetokun told the stakeholders, drawn from the informal and formal sectors of the economy that the community engagement would help in achieving a safe society, adding that efforts would be intensified to address the cases of kidnapping and other criminal activities across the country.
Mr Egbetokun, while reaffirming the readiness of the Nigeria Police Force to collaborate with relevant bodies towards achieving a crime free society, promised to address the shortage of manpower and other logistics in the command.
Earlier, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Alamutu had noted the shortage of manpower was affecting effective policing in the state.
Mr Alamutu who described Ogun State as one of the safest states in Nigeria said the visit of the IGP would reenergize officers and men for a better service delivery.
Representatives of various bodies, including the welders, the Tailors, the Nigerian Medical Association, and ACOMORAN, while speaking at the event stressed the need for the police to take advantage of technology to nip crimes in the bid.
