JONAPWD Hails FAAN Sanction on Lagos Airport KFC Outlets Over Discrimination Against Member
The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) has commended the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria over its swift action to protect its member from discriminating treatment at the KFC outlet in the Lagos Airport.

The management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Wednesday, closed down KFC facility at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos with immediate effect.
A statement by Mrs. Obiageli Orah, Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, FAAN, said that the sanction was in connection with the discriminatory treatment received by a Passenger with Reduced Mobility (PRM) at the airport on Wednesday from the outlet.
In a reaction, National President of JONAPWD, Mr Abdullahi Usman lauded the development, calling on business outlets, corporate and public organisations to give persons with disabilities right of place.
“I commend the efforts of FAAN for taking a necessary measure to protecting the right of person with disabilities at the airport. Persons with disabilities are facing untold hardship and ill-treatment from airline operators at airports spread across the country”
He called on the federal government and FAAN to create a disability officer desk at the airports for rights enforcement and immediate solutions to the challenges of PRM at airport facilities.
