Man O’ War Empowers Members, Inducts New War Marshalls in Ibadan
The Man O’ War Command of Oluyole Area in Oyo State has empowered its members with skills acquisitions and entrepreneurship development training to boost their daily income.
The empowerment programme was organised as part of activities marking the investiture ceremony of some of its outstanding members as War Marshalls.
Speaking at the programme, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Idi-Ayunre Police Station, Ibadan, CSP Ehichioya Emmanuel, urged youths to utilise their strengths meaningfully and be mindful of the friends they keep.
The DPO noted that youths nowadays do not want to learn any trade nor study appropriately but want quick money through internet fraud and other negative means.
He lamented that the current economic hardship in the country and parental failure had made people stop caring about how young ones make their money without tangible engagements.
“There is dignity in labour and every youth must know that no crime goes on till eternity; criminals will surely be caught one day,” he said.
Similarly, Mrs Oyebukola Akinpelu, who was inducted as War Marshall of Man O’ War Nigeria, said the agitations by youths for positive change and good governance should be considered a good development to be supported by all.
Akinpelu said Nigerian youths must be given an enabling environment to attain their full potential as they remain the future of the nation.
“Neglecting the youths can put a nation in danger.
“Government must have a way of listening to its youths, include them in their policy formulations and decision making,” she said.
Akinpelu, the Labour Party contestant for the Oluyole chairmanship position in the forthcoming local government election in Oyo state, urged youths to avoid being used as political thugs.
She reiterated that politicians would not allow their children to be used as political thugs because they know its implications.
“Our youths must be ready to rise against this menace. They should know that their future is in their hands because most of these politicians do not have their children in the country,” she said.
Speaking on her induction as War Marshall of Man O’ War Nigeria, Akinpelu, said the honour meant a call to do more for the community and the nation at large.
The investiture ceremony featured lectures, awards presentations and different entrepreneurship trainings.
