Mr Olusola Adeleke, the PDP Chairmanship candidate has facilitated free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration program in a bid to support brilliant indigent students in Ibarapa Central Local Government of Oyo State.
The registration took place on Monday, January 22 at the ICT centre of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic in Eruwa.
The initiative aimed at empowering students seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions, had its 40 beneficiaries drawn from secondary schools in the 10 wards of the council area.
Mr Oluyemi Atilola, the Director-General of Adeleke’s campaign, said that two students were selected from each secondary school in Ibarapa Central, based on recommendations from school principals.
He said that out of the 40 brilliant indigent students identified, only
38 successfully registered for the examination on Monday.
Atilola said that the remaining two had their registration pending due to technical issues related to their National Identity Numbers, promising their registration would be completed once the issues are resolved.
Speaking about the project, Atilola said that Adeleke had facilitated the free UTME registration due to his love for education and his desire to support the less privileged in the council area.
He described the gesture from Adeleke as a clear demonstration of his commitment to educational development beyond political aspirations.
Atilola emphasised the importance of individuals taking action to improve their communities, regardless of political power.
He expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation received from parents as well as the positive reception the project garnered.
Atitola expressed hope that Adeleke would do more for the community and its youths if he emerged chairman of the local government.
