The Osun State Government has approved the establishment of a Joint Security Task Force, JTF to strengthen security operations and enhance the state’s response to emerging threats to lives and property.
The decision was reached at the State Security Council meeting presided over by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi with the Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Zungura, alongside other heads of security agencies in the state in attendance.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr.Kolapo Alimi in a statement made available to newsmen, expressed the readiness to provide the necessary logistics to ensure the effective take-off and operation of the Joint Security Task Force.
Prince Adewusi lauded the security commanders for their efforts in managing recent security challenges.
He urged the security agencies to remain vigilant and intensify their efforts in view of the fresh security threats confronting the state.
The Deputy Governor reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to empowering security agencies to protect residents across the state.
He also called on traditional rulers to sustain their roles in local security monitoring and community-level intelligence gathering.
While reassuring residents that the state remained safe and secure, Prince Adewusi advised members of the public to remain vigilant.
The council further directed the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to remain on 24-hour red alert to prevent and respond to any security threats.
The meeting also had in attendance by the Attorney-General of the State, Mr Wole Jimi-Bada; Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina; and the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security, Mr Samuel Ojo.
