Police Cautions Osun Politicians Against Inflammatory Statements

The Osun State Police Command has cautioned political party chairmen, spokespersons, campaign directors-general, and other political stakeholders to desist from making reckless, unfounded, and inflammatory statements.

‎The State Commissioner of Police,Mr Ibrahim Gotan stated this in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer,Mr. Abiodun Ojelabi, following allegations that the Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Dada Estate Division was transferred as a result of his response to a recent incident in Okinni.

‎Mr. Gotan explained that such reckless statements are capable of undermining public confidence in security institutions of interfering with ongoing investigations.

‎He maintained that the claim is false, misleading, and capable of creating unnecessary tension among members of the public.

‎The State Commissioner of Police said the transfer of Divisional Police Officers is part of a routine administrative reshuffling involving about twenty  DPOs across the State Command.

‎He advised Residents to disregard any attempt to link the transfer of any police officer to ongoing investigations or political considerations.

‎Mr Gotan stressed that attempts to distort facts for political advantage would not be tolerated, and individuals found engaging in acts capable would be held accountable in accordance with the law.

‎‎Recall that,The State Chairman, Accord ,Pastor Victor Akande had in a statement indicated that Political thugs of  the opposition Party on Saturday night allegedly shot three Okinini chiefs, currently receiving treatment in the state Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

‎‎Pastor Akande disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer who provided support and evacuation facilities to the victims was this morning transferred to a rural town in Osun West.
