7 out of 10 Nigerian Students are into ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ – EFCC
The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ola Olukoyede says seven out of ten Nigerian students are into internet fraud popularly known as Yahoo-Yahoo and expressed worry over the alarming rate of Nigerian youth involved in cyber crimes.
Olukoyede in a statement issued by EFCC on X said it is worrisome that seven out of ten students in Nigeria today are involved in cyber crimes.
Olukoyede called for a wider media enlightenment of the youth across the country on the effects of indulgence in internet fraud.
The EFCC Chairman called on the media to design programmes that are aimed at enlightening the Nigerian youth on the evil of the crimes.
“These are the youths we are preparing to be leaders of tomorrow. The media should not relent in enlightening them on the evils of such criminal practices.”
He decried the effects of youth’s involvement in internet-related crimes and described the practice as a menace and cankerworm in society.
