It was a solemn service today at the St Thomas’s Anglican church, Isinkan Akure as the congregation offered special prayers for the safe return of the kidnapped Pupils and teachers of Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire local government area of Oyo state.
Leading the prayers was the Vicar, the venerable Thompson Akinboro, who charged both the Federal and Oyo state government to collaborate and ensure that the abductees were rescued unhurt.
Venerable Akinboro said it was heartwrenching that children including toddlers had been under the rain and sun in thick forest in the last fifteen days while their parents languish in sorrow at home.
The clergyman observed that the security situation in Nigeria was fast deteriorating with the abduction of innocent children and the beheading of a classroom teacher, urging the Federal government to fulfil its constitutional role of protecting the lives and property of its citizenry.
Venerable Akinboro who cautioned government against playing politics with the lives of the citizens called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for the nation especially in the area of security.
